Brandon and his then girlfriend Carolyn Murphy and her daughter walked in to a cafe in Santa Monica where I was having lunch with my husband. My stomach sank as I saw him walk in. He was standing right behind me when he was told by the waiter that he couldn’t come in because they were about to close. As they turned to leave, I immediately stood up, put my hand on his arm, apologized for bothering him and poured my heart out (sort of) about how much I love his music, welcomed him home from the tour (they had JUST returned to L.A.a few days b4 the meeting). I then made Carolyn’s daughter laugh somehow and we all shared a giggle. I touched his arm again, welcomed him home again and they were off! Brandon was so amazingly beautiful and acted very grateful and sincere. He answered my lame questions which were attempts to keep him in front of me longer.
I have seen Incubus play live many, many times but that day trumped all shows!
